The REAL Deal (according to our sources)
Mallory Pugh was born and raised in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She’s been excelling at sports since a very young age. Her combination of both speed and agility have been on display since she first participated in soccer. Her uncanny ability to get around opponents and control the ball has led her to become a rising star in the international soccer community.
Her parents were both athletes as well. Her father Horace ran track and field while also playing football and her mother Karen was a long distance runner. She has an older sister Brianna who also participated in sports but wasn’t nearly as talented as the gifted Mallory.
Pugh went to Mountain Vista High School where she dominated on the soccer field and was recognized as The Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year and Colorado Sports Hall of Fame 2015 High School Female Athlete of the Year. There were reports she was considering turning professional after finishing her high school career but her father Horace confirmed she will be attending UCLA in Spring 2017.
No other young female soccer play as been as dominate as Mallory at this early of an age. Alex Morgan was well into her collegiate career before she rose to national prominence. Mallory credits the excellent coaching and encouragement she received at a very young age by her supportive parents. Without their guidance, she doesn’t believe she would have achieved all the success that’s been critical in her rising athletic career.
She also has done extremely well in her studies. Being a great student athlete has grounded Mallory and helped her focus on what’s important in sports and life. She credits her parents for stressing education as well as athletic excellence.
Mallory is playing on the 2016 U.S.A. Women’s Olympic Soccer Team. She has scored a goal in the game against Colombia that helped the team finish with a tie yet win their opening round division. She has been an instrumental member of the team and will be the face of U.S.A. Women’s Soccer for the foreseeable future.
